The EV4 is making its official debut next week at what Kia is calling its “2025 EV Day,” an EV-focused event in Spain. We’ll be there, and expect more thorough information then—for now, Kia is only releasing images and some basic outlines of the EV4 sedan and hatchback. No, we do no know whether the EV4 (either EV4 model) will make it to the U.S.; no, we do not know how large the battery is, or how much driving range to expect; nor do we have firm ideas on pricing, though one can probably anticipate the EV4 will undercut the upcoming EV5.

What we do know is the EV4 will wear expressive styling with bold, angular elements like those on the larger EV9 and EV6, plastered over a long, tapered shape reminiscent of that of the gas-fed K4 compact sedan Kia does sell here. At least, that applies to the sedan. The hatchback looks nearly the same, albeit with its butt chopped short behind the rear wheels.

Size-wise, the EV4 is likely to be similar to Hyundai’s Ioniq 6, essentially a large-ish compact car. The two will probably share E-GMP platform bits (the same gear that underpins the EV3, EV6, and EV9), simply scaled to suit its footprint. Battery size is likely to also be determined by the EV4’s size, and the Ioniq 6’s 53- and 77.4-kWh options and 240 to 342 miles of range offer a good idea of what to expect. Single and dual motor options, too, will likely be offered. Kia does suggest a sporty GT-Line variant will be in the mix, and we hope there’s a burlier GT offered, too; on the EV6, that trim designation brings with it 576 hp and fun handling.

For now, this is all we have to really go on. The EV4 looks cool, and would give Kia a more affordable EV here in America to slot beneath the EV6 and upcoming EV5. We’ll bring you more as we learn it from Kia’s EV Day next week.
